The Indigenous Languages Education program at the Koori Centre, University of Sydney (Australia) invites expressions of interest from academics, students and practitioners to be visiting scholars in the fields of Indigenous languages education and/or revitalisation.<br>
<br>
The Indigenous Languages Education program offers the innovative Master of Indigenous Languages Education (<font color="#0000ff"><u><a href="http://sydney.edu.au/koori/studying/postgrad.shtml" target="_blank">http://sydney.edu.au/koori/studying/postgrad.shtml</a></u></font>) and is currently staffed by John Hobson (<font color="#0000ff"><u><a href="http://sydney.edu.au/koori/staff/jhobson.shtml" target="_blank">http://sydney.edu.au/koori/staff/jhobson.shtml</a></u></font>) and Susan Poetsch (<font color="#0000ff"><u><a href="http://sydney.edu.au/koori/staff/poetsch.shtml" target="_blank">http://sydney.edu.au/koori/staff/poetsch.shtml</a></u></font>). The Koori Centre also offers a unit of study in the revitalising Gamilaraay language from north-west New South Wales and, in 2011, will begin offering the new unit Re-awakening Australian Languages. We are keen to foster collaboration with others in the field, both from within Australia and overseas, to enhance our own activities and contribute our experience and perspectives to theirs.<br>

Visiting scholars will be expected to take part in learning and research in the University and client communities, and contribute to:<br>
<br>

</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">staff colloquia,
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">guest lectures,
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">publishing research or conference papers for inclusion in the Koori Centre’s research profile.<br>
</span></font></li></ul><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;"><br>
During the term of their visit, scholars will be provided with:<br>
<br>
</span></font><ul><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">a desk (possibly shared, in an office shared with program staff),
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">computer,
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">local telephone line,
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">University e-mail and networked staff services,
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">reasonable access to printing and photocopying,
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">staff library access, and
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">attendance at relevant seminars and lectures (with the permission of the instructor).<br>

Interested persons are requested to provide an expression of interest of not more than three pages including:<br>
<br>
</span></font><ul><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">an overview of the research work or other activities proposed to be undertaken during their visit,
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">the expected outcomes of the visit,
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">the intended term and timing of the visit (one year maximum),
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">academic qualifications,
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">current employment details - position, duties, current supervisor’s name and contact details, institution (including address),
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">previous employment history,
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">names and contact details of two referees who may be consulted, and
</span></font></li><li><font face="Calibri, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">a list of publications for the last five years. <br>

Please note that the Koori Centre cannot provide financial assistance to visiting scholars. Visiting scholars need to have made provision for their <br>
travel, accommodation, sustenance and incidental costs while in Sydney.
