Dear RNLDers,<br><br>RNLD congratulates Vincent 'Jack' Buckskin, who has been named South Australia's <a href="http://www.australianoftheyear.org.au/recipients/?m=vincent-buckskin-2011">Young Australian of the Year</a> 2011. Jack is now a state finalist in the Australian of the Year awards, the outcome of which will be announced in Canberra on Australia Day Eve (25 January 2011).<br>
<br>As some of you will know, Jack's many accomplishments include participating at InField 2010 in Oregon, where he co-taught two workshops on <a href="http://logos.uoregon.edu/infield2010/workshops/language-activism/index.php">Language activism</a> and <a href="http://logos.uoregon.edu/infield2010/workshops/index.php">Strategies for Re-Introducing Languages No Longer Spoken to Children and Adults</a> and presented a paper at the <a href="http://pages.uoregon.edu/nwili/SILS/SILS.shtml">17th Annual Stabilizing Indigenous Languages Symposium</a>.<br>
<br>We wish Jack every success in his ongoing work, which is significantly strengthening the Kaurna language and providing inspiration to young Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.<br><br>kind regards<br clear="all"><br>
