The scholarship is valued at $30,000 per year for three years. Funds of around $25,000 will also be available for field work expenses. <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Arial; "> <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Arial; "><b>The ARC Project</b></span><b> </b></div><p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Arial; ">This project will investigate, analyse and record the barely-known languages of Southern New Guinea, stretching across Papua New Guinea and Indonesia just north of the Torres Strait. It will produce grammatical descriptions for six of the thirty languages of the area, plus a comparative database and handbook of the languages of th<span class="msoIns"><ins cite="mailto:Nicholas%20Evans" datetime="2010-12-03T05:29">e</ins></span> region.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Arial; ">The successful candidate will be based at UNE and work on a language of the M</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: ArialMT; ">orehead-Maro family, in the Morehead district of Papua New Guinea.
