Dear RNLDers,<br><br>John White, from the The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, will lead a session on the <i>In<a href="http://www.aph.gov.au/house/committee/atsia/languages/index.htm">quiry into language learning in Indigenous communities</a></i> at RNLD's upcoming symposium on <a href="http://www.rnld.org/Linguapax-conference">Strengthening language maintenance through cooperative training strategies</a> (to be held in Melbourne from Thursday 18 to Friday 19 August,). John will outline the terms of reference and goals of the inquiry, and will distribute and discuss a questionnaire which the committee is using to collect supporting information on languages and their use.<br>
<br>This is a great opportunity for us to have active input into the inquiry. RNLD will also coordinate a submission to the inquiry which will incorporate issues and discussion arising during the symposium.<br><br>kind regards,<br>
