The potential benefits include corpus building, community participation, and effect on language attitudes. While the benefits are many, ethical issues are raised including new challenges to consent and considerations towards anonymity. <br clear="all"><div><br></div><div>Social media is a largely untapped resource in the language documentation, maintenance, and revitalization fields.
