<pre wrap="">Dear Listmembers,
The University of New England School of Behavioural, Cognitive and
Social Sciences has recently implemented a generous research funding
program for incoming PhD students: up to AUD$15,000 in research funds to
be used over the course of candidature (for example, for fieldwork
expenses), in addition to $1500/year for unforeseen incidentals, and the
further possibility to apply for conference travel or other major
unforeseen expenditures, and which are normally approved with supervisor
support. If you are, or if a student of yours is, interested in pursuing
a fieldwork-based PhD in linguistics and seeking this level of project
funding, we would like to hear from you.
For the coming application period, there are 20 International Student
Scholarships (IPRAs) and 35 Australian Student Scholarships (APAs)
available, in addition to four Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Scholarships (ATSIs).
UNE-BCSS has a strong focus on the descriptive study of Asia-Pacific
languages including pidgins and creoles. Supervision in language
description is by Cindy Schneider, Jeff Siegel, Nick Reid, and Mark
Post, in addition to a number of international adjuncts and other staff
members.
Please feel free to contact me at <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:mpost2@une.edu.au">mpost2@une.edu.au</a> or Cindy Schneider
