Linguistics Society of Papua New Guinea's Annual Conference<br>

The Linguistics Society of PNG is pleased to announce its annual conference<br>
to be held at the University of Goroka (UoG), Goroka, Eastern Highlands<br>
Province, from Tuesday 12th to Thursday 14th of September 2017.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
The conference aims to bring together researchers working in two broad<br>
areas:<br>
<br>
1.   Language documentation, and<br>
<br>
2.   Language development.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Language Documentation<br>
<br>
Intending  participants  are  invited  to  present  papers  on  innovative<br>
work  in  the  area  of Austronesian  and  Papuan  (as  well  as  general)<br>
linguistics, and  literacy/literature. Papers  on current initiatives in<br>
collecting Oral Literature and documenting unwritten Languages (as part of<br>
the ongoing efforts to preserve the cultural and linguistic heritage of PNG)<br>
are also welcome.<br>

Language Development<br>
<br>
Papers are also invited in the area of Language development which<br>
encompasses a broad range of topics, including (but not limited to) language<br>
education, ELT, language policy, pidgins and creoles, language policy,<br>
literature, language/literacy education, and applied linguistics, with new<br>
fields emerging on the borders between disciplines and sub-fields.<br>

Abstracts<br>

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is Tuesday, 31st January 2017<br>
<br>
Authors will be notified of abstract acceptance by Tuesday, 31st March 2017<br>
<br>
