RST analysis of Arabic texts

Dear list members,

I am about to embark on conducting RST analyses of samples of Arabic texts of contemporary political discourse in Morocco.
My aim is to determine whether the predominant relations (in such genres as speech and debate) encourage or hinder the democratic transition.

I suppose I first need to differentiate between the type of relations which may be construed as encouraging democratization (e.g., CONCESSION?), and those which may not (e.g., LIST?); (of course, depending on their relative frequencies of occurrence in a single text and through a corpus of data).

Do you know of any work dealing with a similar issue?
I'd appreciate any comments about the feasibility of my project.
