Definitions of Conjunction and Disjunction

Andy,

I'm not sure that truth would be an appropriate part of the definition. What
if multiple clauses were conjoined that had some kind of irrealis,
subjunctive or future verb forms as the main verbs? Also what would the
difference be between Joint and Conjunction?

Chris,

I have not seen definitions of these relations, but I have felt the need for
them. I would be interested in what others think, but in the meantime I
propose the following :

Relation Name
 Conjunction

Constraints on Nucleus
 Multi-nuclear

Constraints on Combination of Nuclei
Writer claims that all of the nuclei are true

The Effect
Reader recognizes that the writer claims that all of the nuclei are true

Locus of Effect
 Multiple Nuclei

Example
He had the means, he had the motive, and he had the opportunity.

Relation Name
 Disjunction

Constraints on Nucleus
 Multi-nuclear

Constraints on Combination of Nuclei
Writer claims that at least one of the nuclei are true

The Effect
Reader recognizes that the writer claims at least one of the nuclei are
true

Locus of Effect
 Multiple Nuclei

Example
Either he was not at home, or he went to bed early.

Subject: [RST-LIST] Definitions of Conjunction and Disjunction

Dear list members,

Recently, while using Mick O'Donnell's RST Tool, I noticed two multinuclear
relations listed there which I did not find defined on the RST website or
anywhere else. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me find
the definitions (preferably with examples) of the Conjunction and
Disjunction relations. Any citation for these would be very helpful. Thank
you.
