<div dir="ltr"><p>Dear all,</p><p>As there are some researches relating RST and GDF, I am using this list to publicize the CFP for the FDG2018, the <strong>Fifth International Conference on Functional Discourse Grammar</strong>, which will be held in Salvador, Brazil, from 26-28 July 2018.<br>
</p>
<p>This conference will be preceded by an International Preconference Course on FDG
on 24 and 25 July 2018, which will itself be preceded by a Portuguese-taught <strong>Introdução preliminar à Gramática Discursivo-Funcional </strong> on 23 July 2018.</p>
<p><strong>Objectives</strong></p>
<p> The aim of FDG2018 is to further elaborate the
model of Functional Discourse Grammar (FDG) as proposed by Kees
Hengeveld and J. Lachlan Mackenzie. Full treatments of FDG may be found

<p><strong>The conference</strong> </p>
<p> All sessions at the conference will be
plenary, so as to enhance discussion between participants. A poster
session will be part of the programme. The language of the conference
will be English.</p>
<p><strong>The venue</strong></p>
<p> FDG2018 will take place in the <em>Instituto de Letras</em> of the <em>Universidade Federal de Bahia</em>, Av. Barão de Jeremoabo, 147, Campus Universitário de Ondina, 40170-115 Salvador - BA, Brazil. </p>
<p><strong>Abstracts</strong></p>
<p> Abstracts should contain at least the
following items: a clearly defined and well-motivated research
question; the crucial examples illustrating the relevance of the
research question; and the main conclusions of the paper. Abstracts
should be approximately 1,000 words long, i.e. roughly 3 pages, and
should not contain the name of the author. References to literature
cited should be provided in addition to the 1,000 words. References
containing the name of the author may also be given but will be
suppressed before the abstract is sent to the programme committee.
Please indicate in the accompanying message whether you want to present
a paper or a poster. The deadline for the submission of abstracts of
papers and posters is February 1, 2018. Abstracts should be submitted
electronically to the International Secretary of the FGF at <a href="mailto:fg-fgw@uva.nl" target="_blank">fg-fgw@uva.nl</a>.</p>

<p><strong>Programme Committee</strong></p>
<p> The board of the Functional Grammar
Foundation (FGF) has appointed a Programme Committee that consists of
the following members: Evelien Keizer (Chair, University of Vienna), J.
Lachlan Mackenzie (VU Amsterdam), and Hella Olbertz (Universidade
Estadual de Feira de Santana). The Programme Committee will evaluate
anonymized abstracts and decide on their inclusion in the conference
programme. Abstracts submitted by members of the Programme Committee
themselves will be evaluated by an independent member of the board of
the FGF.</p>
<p><strong>Preconference course</strong> </p>
<p> The preconference course on FDG prepares
the students for participation in the conference and is aimed at
graduates and postgraduates and will be taught by Kees Hengeveld
(University of Amsterdam), Evelien Keizer (University of Vienna), and
J. Lachlan Mackenzie (VU University of Amsterdam). The course will be
taught in English.</p>
<p><strong>Introdução preliminar à Gramática Discursivo-Funcional</strong> </p>
<p> This Portuguese-taught preamble to the
preconference course aims at making the participants familiar with the
English terminology used in the Preconference Course.</p>
