Subject: Bill Gedney's death

Dear Center faculty members,
William Gedney, an emeritus professor of Thai linguistics and Center
associate since its founding,, died in his home on Sunday afternoon.
Bill, who was 84, apparently suffered a massive stroke or heart
attack. He had been in relatively good health in recent months despite
having suffered a stroke two years ago and maintained his intellectual
sharpness and sense of humor up to the time of his death. Plans for a
memorial service have not yet been made. Judith Becker
