THE FIFTH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON
LANGUAGES AND LINGUISTICS:
PAN-ASIATIC LINGUISTICS.
University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

                                                       25 July, 1999.

As decided by the participants of the Fourth International Symposium on
Languages and Linguistics in BangKok in 1997, the Fifth ISLL will be held
in Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam. The University of Social Sciences and
Humanities - the host Institution- is pleased to announce that in
accordance with the local conditions, the International conference on Pan
- Asiatic Linguistics will take place on November 16-17,2000.

The conference will bring together scholars interested in linguistic
studies of Asian languages from Japan to the Midle East , and from Siberia
to Indonesia. Papers on such areas, both theoretical and applied are
welcome:
1. Comparative Linguistis ( Historical,Contrastive)
2. Language Typology and Universals.
3. Language and Related Disciplines.
4. Descriptive Linguistics ( pertaining to Phonology , Syntax,
Pragmatics, Social Linguistics...).
5. Vietnamese and Languages of Ethnic Minorities in Vietnam.

Abtracts and registratiion forms should be submitted to The Organizing
Committee no later than December 31,1999. The abstracts ( not more than
300 words) should be typed in two copies, one with the auther's name and
the other without it. The papers selected for the Symposium will be
notified early in March,2000.

Submission of papers :31 June, 2000.
Registration fee : $130 (before November 31,1999).
$160 (after November 31,1999).
