ISLAM AND ASIAN BUSINESS CONFERENCE
18-21 August, 2004
Honolulu, Hawaii

CALL FOR PAPERS
Abstracts/Summaries: Due by 15 March, 2004

Since September 11, 2001, Islam has moved from the margins of political
thought in America and the rest of the world to the center of daily
discourse. Especially in the U.S., our national dialog has been limited
unfortunately by a lack of overall knowledge and understanding about the
world's youngest major religion. While experts in the media and in
government have focused much of the world's attention on the particulars
of Islam in the Middle East, much less investigation, research or
discussion has been directed toward Asian Muslims, a regional grouping
that outnumbers Muslims in other parts of the world. Little or nothing is
mentioned about the role of Islam in international commerce, and
specifically, its impact on Asian business.

The conference aims to bring together a diverse group of academic and
professional experts, singly or in panel format, for presentations or
discussion groups that analyze, explain or interpret Islamic Asia's
current economic, social, political and cultural environment. Most
importantly, the conference hopes to unveil ongoing research and
activities examining country-specific developments in Muslim Asian nations
(north, central, south, east and southeast Asia), business practices,
bilateral and multilateral trade issues as well as Islam-related
pan-regional topics that impact Asia and the world.

ABSTRACT/SUMMARY SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

(1) The FIRST PAGE must include the name, address, telephone, fax and
email contact information of the author/s and the title of the

successful authors from the developing Asian countries may receive
conference fee discounts.
