University

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Center for Southeast Asian Studies
(CSEAS) invites applications for the position of Assistant
Director. This is a full-time administrative position to
assist the Director in carrying out responsibilities such as
managing and developing grants projects, managing and
publicizing the Southeast Asian Studies Graduate Program,
organizing CSEAS events and activities, and providing general
assistance to Southeast Asian Studies faculty and students.
Candidates must have outstanding leadership, management, and
interpersonal skills to relate to a wide diversity of faculty,
staff, students and community members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The person in this position should a
have a minimum of bachelor's degree in International Studies
or a related field, with a focus on a Southeast Asian country
or culture. A Master's degree, or comparable work experience
in the region, is highly preferred. Competency in a Southeast
Asian language is required. Strong organizational,
communication, and interpersonal skills are also required.
These include the ability to deal effectively with students,
faculty, staff, administrators, and the general public; work
effectively in a cross-cultural environment; ability to assist
in the development of grant projects; ability to assist in the
management of budgets; ability to write clearly. The person in
this position should be skillful in organizing meetings,
events, and activities cross diverse communities.
