Assistant Professor (Tagalog), position number 83982, UHM College of Languages, Linguistics and Literature, (Manoa), tenure track, full-time, general funds, beginning Fall 2008 pending funding and position availability. 
Duties: Teach beginning through advanced levels of Filipino (Tagalog) and related courses; design, develop and implement curriculum materials in Filipino; provide service in areas of expertise (e.g., translation and Philippine culture information dissemination) to the University and the larger community. 
Minimum qualifications: PhD or ABD in Filipino or relevant field, highest level of fluency in Filipino and English; mastery of Filipino grammar; knowledge of integrating technology in language teaching; evidence of successful and relevant experience in teaching a second language, particularly Filipino to American students; ability to develop teaching materials; demonstrated commitment to academic research. 
Desirable qualifications: Experience in administering 
a language program; experience in teacher training and curriculum development; ability to teach in ancillary areas such as literature, film, and popular culture; knowledge of language/program assessment; publication in relevant field.
