BURMESE INTENSIVE BEGINNERS IN BARCELONA, SPAIN
For learners with no previous knowledge of the language

DURATION: Twenty hours over five days, daytimes

DESCRIPTION
The course will be taught by Dr. Justin Watkins of SOAS, University of
London. This course is aimed at complete beginners with no previous knowledge
of spoken or written Burmese.

There will be 10 classes lasting two hours each.  Expect to spend an
additional two hours studying for each class. Please bear this in mind before 
committing to the course.

We will spend half the time on acquiring the basics of the spoken language,
and half on learning to read and write the beautiful Burmese script.


FEE FOR THIS COURSE
The fee for this 20-hour course is 200 euros; the price may drop if there are
more than 12 takers.

MATERIALS
The spoken language classes will use the Burmese by Ears by John Okell free
to download from www.soas.ac.uk/bbe - and in this intensive course we should
reach Unit 4 or Unit 5 of the book (forming basic statements and questions,
language useful in cafes, restaurants, taking taxis).

We will provide materials for learning to read and write Burmese, and can
cover all basic elements of the writing system in the time available.

All students will need to have an mp3 player for listening to recorded
learning materials.

TIMETABLE
This intensive course takes place at Casa Asia in Barcelona, Spain over these
dates and and times:

Mon 19 to Fri 23 November, 2012
4 hours per day: 11am to 1pm, 5pm to 7pm
