*Pre-conference workshops*

The following workshops are anticipated prior to the meeting of the
Southeast Asian Linguistics Society (SEALS), May 27-29 2015 at Payap
University, Chiang Mai, Thailand.  Other workshop topics may be considered;
send proposals to SEALS2015chiangmai at gmail.com by January 10, 2015. Workshops
will be held May 26; possibly also May 25, 2015. For updates please see
http://tinyurl.com/seals2015.

*Fieldworks Language Explorer (FLEx)*

This will be a follow-up to last year’s introductory workshop on Fieldworks
Language Explorer (FLEx), a software tool for dictionary development,
morphological analysis/parsing and interlinearization, and discourse
analysis. According to interest, the workshop may also include an
introduction to other software, such as Phonology Assistant and Speech
Analyzer and how they can be used in conjunction with FLEx. Please contact
Ellie Hall for further information: SEALS2015chiangmai at gmail.com.

*Review of Classification and ISO Codes for Languages of Mainland Southeast
Asia*

In recent years there has been significant discussion about language
classification in Southeast Asia, including discussion about the currency
of ISO codes and the information compiled by Ethnologue. The organisers
would like to take the opportunity afforded by the holding of SEALS at
Chiang Mai, to host a workshop to advance practical programmatic steps to
update and improve the compilation of language classification information,
the allocation of ISO codes, and related issues. This is an important
opportunity for the field and we urge interested scholars and researchers
to attend. Contact Nate Cheeseman for more information:
nate_cheeseman at sil.org.

*Workshop on Issues in Kuki-Chin Linguistics*

This workshop will serve as a follow-up to the Workshop in Kuki-Chin
Linguistics held at ICSTLL 46 in 2013. Invited papers on specific topics
will be presented by specialists in this branch of Tibeto-Burman. In
addition, appropriate submissions to the general SEALS conference may be
considered for presentation at the workshop. Submissions from
native-speaker linguists are especially encouraged. Please contact Dave
Peterson for further information: david.a.peterson1 at gmail.com.

*Fourth International Workshop On The Sociolinguistics Of Language
Endangerment (SoLE-4)*

This workshop will discuss and analyze the major sociolinguistic factors in
the process of language endangerment. This will take the form of
presentations on particular communities from an insider and outsider
perspective, as well as overview presentations on specific types of
endangerment factors. We will also attempt to provide some examples of
successful language maintenance and revival strategies.

SoLE-1 was held at the 3L Summer School at the School of Oriental and
African Studies in 2009. SoLE-2 was held at the Linguistic Society of
America Summer Institute in 2011. SoLE-3 was held at Yunnan Minzu
University in 2014. All four workshops have been under the sponsorship of
the Comité International Permanent des Linguistes.

SoLE-4 is organized by Prof David Bradley and Dr Maya Bradley of La Trobe
University, and will be held at Payap University in Chiang Mai, Thailand on
26 May 2015.

Abstracts for papers should be sent to <solangend4 at gmail.com> by 31 March
2015.
