The 30th Annual Meeting of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society (SEALS)
Final Call for Papers

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa invites
scholars working on Southeast Asian linguistics to the 30th Annual Meeting
of the Southeast Asian Linguistics Society (SEALS), May 18-20, 2020, to be
held on the campus of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

Kitima Indambarya, Kasetsart University
Peter Jenks, UC Berkeley
Aldrin Lee, University of the Philippines - Diliman

The SEALS Conference will be immediately preceded by the International
Symposium on Malay/Indonesian Linguistics

Symposium on the Languages of Java
<https://indoling.com/isloj/isloj-8/> (ISLOJ)
on May 14-16, as well as a series of workshops on various topics and a
special lecture by Dr. Robert Blust (University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa) on May
17, 2020.

Abstracts dealing with any areas related to Southeast Asian Languages will
be considered. Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

   -

   phonetics and phonology
   - morphology
   - syntax
   - semantics
   - pragmatics
   - discourse analysis
   - genetic and areal relationships
   - interactional linguistics
   - historical and comparative studies
   - sociolinguistic studies
   - psycholinguistics
   - language acquisition
   - neurolinguistics
   - language and culture/thought
   - language documentation
   - language endangerment
   - language revitalization/reclamation


Presentations will be 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes of discussion.
*Abstracts
should be written in English and submitted in PDF format*. Abstracts must
conform to the following format requirements:

   - *Abstract must have a clear and informative title (preferably centered
   at top of page, in bold, in sentence case). *
   - *Abstracts should not exceed 1 letter-size (A4, 8.5”x11”) page, using
   Times New Roman 11 point font, single-spaced, with 1-inch (2.5cm) margins,
   inclusive of references, figures and title.*
   - *Abstracts must be fully anonymous: authors’ names, affiliations, or
   pictures should not be indicated anywhere in the document. *

Important Dates:
*Deadline for Abstract Submission: January 13, 2020*
Notification of Acceptance: Early February, 2020
Online Pre-registration: February 01 – April 15, 2020
Online Regular Registration: April 16 – May 12, 2020
