Conference of the Association for Linguistic Typology (ALT VI) will be held in

Indonesia from Thursday July 21 to </SPAN><ST1:DATE month="7" day="25"
year="2005"><SPAN lang=EN-GB>Monday July 25, 2005</SPAN></ST1:DATE><SPAN
lang=EN-GB>. The local organizers for ALT VI will be David Gil and Uri
Tadmor.<O:P></O:P></SPAN><BR><SPAN lang=EN-GB><O:P> </O:P></SPAN><BR><SPAN
lang=EN-GB>Members and non-members wishing to present a paper at ALT VI are
asked to <STRONG>e-mail a one-page abstract</STRONG> to the chair of the program
committee, <STRONG><FONT color=#0000ff>Lindsay Whaley</FONT></STRONG>, to reach
him no later than </SPAN><ST1:DATE month="1" day="1" year="2005"><SPAN
lang=EN-GB><STRONG>January 1, 2005</STRONG></SPAN></ST1:DATE><SPAN lang=EN-GB>.
A second page may be included with the abstract listing data.<SPAN>
</SPAN>The abstract itself should contain no identification of the
author.<SPAN> </SPAN>A separate page should indicate the title of the
abstract, the name(s) of the author(s), and one mailing address, with telephone,
fax, and e-mail address as available.<O:P></O:P></SPAN><BR><SPAN
lang=EN-GB><O:P> </O:P></SPAN><BR><SPAN lang=EN-GB>The committee strongly
encourages submissions by e-mail (preferably with the abstract in pdf format and
author information as part of the e-mail text), but abstracts may also be sent
by fax.<SPAN> </SPAN>Authors are asked to check their pdf files carefully
to ensure that special characters are embedded
properly.<O:P></O:P></SPAN><BR><SPAN

presentation and discussion is 30 minutes. Members may also submit abstracts for
symposia, including the names of participants and the amount of time requested.
Participants may not be involved in more than two abstracts, of which at most
one may be single-authored. English is the preferred language at the conference.
Talks in other languages will be accepted only at the discretion of the program

lang=EN-GB><O:P> </O:P></SPAN><BR><SPAN lang=EN-GB>By </SPAN><ST1:DATE month="2"

2005</STRONG></SPAN></ST1:DATE><SPAN lang=EN-GB> the program committee will
convey its decision on acceptance of papers to those submitting abstracts. The
committee consists of Balthasar Bickel, David Gil, Aditi Lahiri, Brian
Migliazza, Uri Tadmor and Lindsay Whaley (chair).<O:P></O:P></SPAN><BR><SPAN
