Promoting Image of Slavic Lgs and Lits

The efforts that the three subcommittees of the SLTF have made are quite
impressive. It is a natural impulse to want to vent our professional
anxieties when even Ivy league departments like Cornell's become
threatened and the gloom sets in, and on such occasions the SEELANGS
experiences a flare up of stimulating exchanges. But it is indeed very,
very hard to make a commitment to actually contirubute one's time to the
field beyond the usual teaching, research, and departmental citizenship.
