SECOND YEAR CZECH, HUNGARIAN, AND POLISH; FIRST-YEAR SERBIAN/CROATIAN
   -- TUITION FREE FOR GRADS IN THE EAST EUROPEAN FIELD --

The Indiana University Summer Workshop in Slavic, East European and Central
Asian Languages (SWSEEL) announces summer intensive courses (June 20 to
August 15, 1997) in the above languages. As part of an agreement with ACLS,
these languages will be tuition free to graduate students in the East
European field. Instruction is 20 hours per week and includes a cultural
program.

The Workshop will also offer RUSSIAN course (first to sixth year), and
first-year CZECH, HUNGARIAN, and POLISH. Tuition for the Russian courses is
$1,400. For first-year Czech, Hungarian, and Polish it is $840 for graduate
students and $1,120 for undergraduates.

Pending funding, the Workshop will also teach first-year CHECHEN, GEORGIAN,
KAZAKH, TURKMEN, and first- and second-year UZBEK. Please watch for an
