Dear Seelangers,

I am looking for an illustration or a detailed description of the zertsalo,
the prismatic "mirror of justice" used in Russia during legal proceedings
throughout the 18th  century. It is featured prominently in Vasilii
Kapnist's satire "Iabeda" (1798).  Can anyone direct me to an image of the
zertsalo or perhaps a helpful reference?  Please reply to me off-list:
