Slavic, Slavonic, Sclavic

Regarding the recent discussion of Slavic vs. Slavonic, can anyone shed light
on "Sclavonic," a form that apparently was in wide use in the early and middle
19th century?  I have seen  many usages of this term in descriptions of
travels to Russia in this time period.

"The next advantage of the Russian Church over the Italian, is the performance
of the divine offices in a known tongue, the Sclavonic..."
