I, too, like Kenneth's way of looking at learning Russian (and I agree,
this applies to any language). I fully realize that I will always have my
American accent most of the time. While I think it's important to work on
accent, my goal -- and the goal I present to my students -- is to get
meaning across when speaking and to be culturally sensitive. This goes
much further than perpetual pronunciation practice.
