19th Annual Shevchenko Conference in NYC

NEW YORK: The Shevchenko Scientific Society, Ukrainian Academy of Arts &
Sciences in the US and Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute are sponsoring the
19th Annual  Shevchenko Conference. Presentations will be by Prof. Assya
Humesky ("Humor in Shevchenko's Poetry"), Prof. Natalia Chechel ("Shevchenko
and the Theater of Les Kurbas"), and Prof. Yaropolk Lassowsky ("Shevchenko and
Lysenko: Musical Form and Dramatatic Function in Monologues from 'The
Haidamaks'"). The Consul General of Ukraine, Hon. Yuriy Bohayevskyi, will
participate with introductory remarks, Prof. Oleksa Bilaniuk will open the
conference and Prof. Larissa Onyshkevych will offer closing remarks.

The conference will be held at 4 pm., Saturday, March 6
