Janacek conference announcement

As previously announced, the Music Department of Royal Holloway College,
University of London, in association with the Centre for the Study of
Eastern Europe, School of Slavonic & East European Studies, University of
London, will host a three-day International Conference, "A Tale of Three
Cities: Janacek's Brno between Vienna and Prague", from Friday 22 October
to Sunday 24 October 1999, at Senate House, Malet Street, London WC1E 7HU.
The conference will include a keynote lecture by Roger Scruton, an
interview with Sir Charles Mackerras, papers by John Tyrrell and Arnold
Whittall, and a song recital by the young tenor Matthew Elton Thomas, of
songs (some not heard previously in London) by Janacek and his
contemporaries.  Details of the conference and a registration form, which
