French for Reading

Greetings all,

Does anyone know of a good textbook for teaching oneself to read French for
research? I am not interested in spoken proficiency or any of that, just
beng able to read it well enough to understand scholarly articles. How
about German, too? I'll be working on that next summer. Thanks for
assistance.
