For those who may not have heard, today that spunky old man of 92, Dmitrii Likhachev, died in St. Petersburg. Even the least sentimental of Slavists must surely pay homage to Likhachev's rare combination of brains, erudition, and integrity. Sad to see him go; happy to have had him. Helena Goscilo
