For the official version,
Daum & Schenk (1971) give only ponjal'a.
Avanesov (1959) gives ponjal'a and specifically marks p'onjala as
incorrect.

For the colloquial version, this is a very common word, and I cannot
recall ever hearing it stressed anywhere but on the last syllable
(experience mostly in Moscow oblast').
