Dear Professor Napaktitis and colleagues,

I used Lonnie Johnson's CENTRAL EUROPE: ENEMIES, NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS
(Oxford University Press, 1996) as a basic textbook for a Central
European survey course that I taught while directing an exchange
program in the Czech Republic. I found that it presented an excellent
overview, and provided a good foundation for contextualizing and
understanding the major issues (historical, cultural, social) in the
region. You also might consider taking a look at the program website
for more information on this year's survey course
(http://www.acm.edu/czech/).
