Old Russian "tur" actually means "aurochs", referring to the wild animal,
not "bull" as such, while its cognates in Latin, Greek, Old Irish, refer to
the domestic animal, parallel to the case of "dog and "wolf". The root is
Indo-European. It may have been borrowed from Semitic into Indo-European,
or it may be cognate with the Semitic forms.
