Pension payments

Combination of direct deposit and cash from what I can tell. Sberbank and
even some metro kassas give them out. Student stipends are being paid by
direct deposit also now.

Question for all:  how are pension payments in Russia received these days?
Are checks sent through the mail, or is direct deposit being used?  (Surely
it's not all done in cash, is it?)
