re-sending email re: chess in Russian literature and film

For some strange reason, my original email seems to have been cut off, so I'm
going to try again.

I am sending this query for a colleague in American Studies.

Would anyone happen to know of any works (other than Nabokov's _Defense_ and
Pudovkin's film _Chess Fever_) that feature the game of chess?  The texts or
films would need to be available in English translation.
