Dear colleague:

ACTR is looking for Russian teachers of upper-level high school Russian and of intermediate and advanced college Russian to test-teach online theme-based modules in their upper-level classes and complete a survey about their teaching experience with the module/s.

ACTR in cooperation with the College Board is developing an Internet-based curriculum for advanced Russian which eventually will become the basis for a new Russian AP program in our nation's high schools. We are working on this project and under a grant from the United States Department of Education. A large portion of this grant allows us to create teaching materials that are available for free for online use (at http://www.russnet.org/online.html).
So far the following thematic modules are available:

1.) Stalin
2.) Ivan the Terrible
3.) Matryoshka
4.) Peers: School
5.) Peers: Summer
6.) Russian Women Today

Soon to follow are:
7.) Russian Holidays and
8.) Russian Revolution of 1917
9.) New Russians
10.) Peter the Great
11.) Ruslan and Lyudmila

These materials are rich in content, giving the user texts, audio recordings and video recordings to familiarize them with the topic. We offer a comprehensive collection of exercises geared towards listening, reading, grammar and critical thinking skills. The modules come with a series of tools that allow the teacher to monitor student progress. They can be easily incorporated into another curriculum or may be used by themselves.

What ACTR needs now is critical feedback from teachers who have used these materials in the classroom to aid us in assessing and improving the modules. If you are willing to test-teach and review one or several of these online modules, please contact Barbara Mozdzierz at mozdzierz at actr.org.

Many thanks in advance for your support in this important project.

Sincerely,

Marissa Polsky
