          Position Announcement

           Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track)


Subject to budgetary approval, the Department of German and Russian,
Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, invites application for a
tenure-track position in Russian at the Assistant Professor level to
commence September 1, 2002. In addition to Russian language and literature
at all undergraduate levels, the successful candidate will be required to
teach introductory courses in German. Near native fluency in Russian is
required. The successful applicant will have a doctorate in hand by the
date of appointment and be able to submit evidence of effective teaching
and research potential.
