1) I'll suggest TOKAREVA VIKTORIA,she has written a lot of short stories - really very nice and through the life of the heroes she let you realise "the mistakes"of  the Soviet system. Sometimes so "funny" and foolish that one could even accept them?!Her books are available at www.bn.com - in english.
And what about "Deti Arbata " - but this is a novel,not very short.
