Slavic Civilizations

I am writing for a colleague who will be teaching Slavic Civilizations in
the fall, for the first time.  Would anyone have suggestions as to the best
books and materials?  I know there was a previous discussion concerning
courses in Russian Civilization, but I didn't foresee the need.  That would
also be relevant of course.  Thank you in advance.
