Embedded infinitives

Could anybody suggest a place where I could find the discussion of embedded
infinitives. What I have in mind is the opposition of

        On velel mne prijti. vs. On potreboval, chtoby ja prishel. (*On
potreboval ot menja prijti.)
        On prosil menja pozvonit'. vs. On skazal, chtoby ja pozvonil. (*On
skazal mne pozvonit'.)
