There is a very interesting article on the real-life background of
Zoya's Apartment:  Mikhail Zolotonosov's "ZK: Zagadki kriminal'no
ideologicheskogo konteksta i kul'turnyi smysl," in Russian Studies 1,
no.1 1994.  It may have been reprinted in his Slovo i telo, but I'm
not sure.
