ISO attitudes towards nature text(s)

Dear Seelangers,



I'm trying to find texts which provide substantial detail on
pre-Revolutionary Russian attitudes towards Nature:  not paganism or
dvoeverie, but attitudes towards agriculture, sustainability of resources,
supply and demand, and so on.  Ideally, the type of work I'm looking for
would address both governmental and peasant attitudes along these lines.
Tidbits exist in many places, but does anyone know of a significant single
text which addresses this theme?  Anything in either Russian or English
would do wonderfully.
