David,
I first learned Russian in high school via correspondence course through
the University of Wisconsin-Extension. The texts were Mischa Fayer's Basic
Russian Book 1 (for 1st and 2nd semester) and Book 2 (for 3rd and 4th
semester). When I began college study of Russian as a freshman, I started
out at 2nd year college Russian and was not at all behind the other students
who had taken 1st year college Russian.
