Chair, Department of Languages and Literatures

Arizona State University seeks an accomplished Chair for its Department
of Languages and Literatures. The Department offers instruction in 19
languages and graduate degrees in selected areas, including a nationally
ranked Ph.D. program in Spanish.
 
The successful candidate will hold an earned Ph.D. from a department of
languages and literatures, linguistics, culture, or civilization, or a
closely-related field and have a national and international reputation
in her or his field. Research specialty and language are open, but
candidate will be involved in substantial ongoing research.  Candidate
will have an established record of academic and professional achievement
appropriate to the rank of Professor and administrative experience at
level commensurate with Chair/ Director, or higher.

Record of success in competitive research funding, experience with
program development, strong teaching record are required.  Involvement
with community-based initiatives, and experience with transdisciplinary
collaboration are desired.

Salary and start-up are competitive and commensurate with
