 The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures & Linguistics at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a five-year renewable term appointment in Russian Language and Literature at the assistant professor level to begin in August 2006. We seek a dynamic individual who can help us to continue to strengthen our Russian language program and who has a strong research specialization, preferably in 19th-century Russian literature. The successful candidate will assume primary responsibility for the coordination of first- and second-year Russian and will teach intermediate and advanced Russian language courses as well as for courses in Russian literature and culture in both Russian and English translation. 3/3 teaching load. Ph.D. in hand and native or near native command of Russian and English. Evidence of both scholarly promise and excellence in teaching. Familiarity with proficiency guidelines and current trends in language pedagogy. Certification to administer proficiency tests a decided plus.
