Trauma studies in Central / Eastern Europe?

Colleagues,

A student is working on a senior thesis on trauma in cinema during the
Soviet period in Central and Eastern Europe. She is wondering whether
anyone might share information about the history of trauma studies in
the region--whether trauma as a category was studied in this era,
whether the word or its equivalent was used to describe what we construe
as trauma today. 

She is working in particular on Hungarian cinema, but is also examining
Czech and Polish films.

Any thoughts anyone might have to share on this topic would be greatly
