Dear all,

Is there a standard translation for ‘komissar vtorogo ranga’?

The full sentence is:
‘Tovarishch komissar gosudarstvennoi bezopasanosti vtorogo ranga, razreshite
dolozhit’?
It is from Grossman’s story ‘Mama’.  I now realize that I’m not sure how
best to translate ‘razreshite dolozhit’ either.  Anyone familiar with army
terminlogy?
