Crimes of Passion in Russian Literature

In Nabokov's despair, Hermann's murder of his double was the result of his
very different, sustained, aesthetic passion.  I don't know if this would be
helpful, but maybe it could help you as a more modern (20th century) example
of what you're looking for.
