Kyiv and Petersburg

But, as I was just telling the Gaelic-speaking colleague, you don't see
us Leningrad natives camping outside the State Department with the
slogan "There is no "s" in Peterburg!"

I guess the issue at hand is not lack of well-deserved respect and
appreciation for the newly independent and sovereign state, but rather
common sense giving way to absurdity.
