Eugene Huskey, my colleague in Political Science and an expert on many things Central Asian, had this to say:
"Conflict, cleavage, and change in Central Asia and the Caucasus, a Cambridge
paperback edited by Dawisha and Parrott, though it's about a decade old and
less heavy on history."

Subject: [SEELANGS] Critical Text on Central Asia?
Dear Seelangs,
Any suggestions for a critical collection of essays (in English) on
the histories, cultures, and intra/international relations of the
Central Asian nations? This would serve as a contextual background
text for upper division undergraduate course.
Any advice would be appreciated and used!
All the best,
Jeremy
