travel to russia

dear all:

an undergraduate student asked me about travelling to russia this
upcoming spring for a week. he has never gone there previously and
has had three semesters of russian. he doesn't know how to go about
planning his trip, where and what to look for, and frankly, neither
do i (as i haven't travelled to russia in several years.)
could anyone perhaps recommend a starting point, maybe some sort of
student travel groups or tours travelling to moscow/st. petersburg
from the new york area? i would appreciate any tips/ advice.
