As everyone knows, Turkey's biggest liability is its antidemocratic 
treatment of the Kurds recently and the Armenians historically. If all 
Turkish citizens were equal, they would have been welcomed in already. 
As things stand, the Türks are first-class citizens, and everyone else 
is second class; many in Europe find that offensive.
